One and Done Picks, Travelers

This year we will be tracking each of our writers’ performances in our 95 person One And Done (OAD) pool. For those of you who do not know what a OAD pool is, it is a season long contest in which you select one golfer per week with the golfer’s earned money that week adding to your season total. Once you select a golfer, you cannot use him the rest of the year (so, no, you cannot pick DJ or Tiger every week).

U.S. Open Results

Frank Laterza: Jon Rahm, T3-582K
Mike McNamara: Jon Rahm, T3-582K
Jake Mulholland: Adam Scott, T7-367K
Jack Corrigan: Dustin Johnson, T35-58K
Tony Kasper

Bear: Phil Mickelson, T52-27K
Sean Carney: Tommy Fleetwood, T65-24K
Kevin Walsh: Jordan Spieth , T65-24K
Sam Scherman: Justin Thomas, MC-0K

-No body hit on Gary or Brooks, but a very, very solid Rahmbo selection by Mike and Frank.

-A T7 from Jake and Adam was serviceable as well.

-Not much else goin’ on with the rest of the group. Must be saving it for The Open!

Season Standings through Week 23:

OAD Week 23

Travelers Picks

Kevin Walsh: Big Daddy Leish — This week I’m rolling with Marc Leishman, founder of Leishman Lager, a beverage I’ve consumed plenty of. Simply put, it’s time for Marc to bow up and get back in the winner’s circle. He returns to the Travelers after a 5th at Jack’s place and a 35th in the U.S. Open. Given he gained strokes in every category at Pebble Beach, I’m not worried about the so-so finish. It means his game is close. And when Leish is close, you pull the trigger. He’s a guy that will not falter when in contention, and returning to a tournament he’s already won only gives me more confidence. Hopefully the Leishman Lager will be flowing after Marc claims PGA tour victory #5 on Sunday night!

Jake Mulholland: Ryan Moore — Rouge still in love. No explanation from him.

Tony Kasper: Patrick Cantlay — No sense in holding back any of the top guys from here on out, as it’s now or never to make a push up the standings. Cantlay had a solid weekend at Pebble after struggling to gain any momentum on Thursday and Friday.  He is also familiar with the course and finished 15th here last year. He has had a great season and is certainly capable of contending in Connecticut.

Frank LaterzaPatrick Reed — I just finished T3 at a major and moved down a spot in our league. I’m devastated. Captain America to help the cause, give me a broken club!

Mike McNamaraCharley Hoffman — Rested after not qualifying for the U.S. Open at Pebble, and quite frankly a little pissed off. Chuck hasn’t played stellar golf in 2019 but there are enough tournaments still remaining to salvage the season. Has had plenty of success in Cromwell, and I expect a big week ahead.

Sean Carney: Marc Leishman — Riding Marc Big Daddy Leish this week. He is a previous winner in back in 2012 and has a couple of top 20s since. He played decent at the U.S. Open and was right there at the Memorial. Hoping Leish can continue form and find a ton of birdies out there this week.

Jack CorriganFranco Molinari — Just seems like a place he’d win at. Played well last week, doesn’t have great history here but I’m going for broke here.

BearChez Reavie — Chez was shown no respect last Sunday. He was in the second to last group, and finished T3. Yet, about 5 of his shots were shown. I think he comes out with a vengeance this week and goes really, really low.
