The Memorial – Summer begins! This tournament is perfection in my eyes, played on a Jack Nicklaus designed course that is absolutely gorgeous. The galleries are spectacular, the holes are wonderful, the field is phenomenal — you truly cannot ask for a better tournament that is not a major or WGC. This tournament is gaining more and more notoriety each season, and I look forward to it every year.
Fed Ex St. Jude Classic – As average as it gets, definitely a pretty course, and Dustin made that amazing hole out to close this year, but the field does not do it for me. I would love to play it, but would not care to see it live.
The U.S. Open – I have a bias for being an American, but truly, to me, there is something absolutely special about this tournament. The finish on Father’s Day, the tough tracks every year — it is an absolute test of patience and grit. I love the U.S. Open! Oakmont, Pebble, Shinnecock, Merion oh and yes of course The Country Club where Francis made history. It is not the oldest, but it may be the most meaningful to the game of golf.
Travelers Championship – A tournament that has gained possibly more stock than any other as of late. The galleries are top notch, the field has somehow gained a lot of traction, and the past couple of finishes have been very dramatic. TPC River Highlands hosts a great event every year in the beautiful state of Connecticut. I honestly wish we got to see the East Coast more often on the tour schedule. Hopefully, in years to come, the Tour looks at this tournament and decides to add a couple to the schedule.
Quicken Loans National – The move to Detroit, I believe, was a perfect choice, and I know myself and other Ammy members are planning on attending. A tournament Tiger helped run, but it has gotten really bad recently with terrible fields. It is tough for me to rate now with the change, but I believe it is one to keep a radar on next season because it can be really good!
