Every week I will be giving a brief history of the upcoming tournament and the course it is played at. Nothing too in-depth, but just to give you guys an idea of what’s to come every week. Let’s get after it.

The Houston Open was established 72 years ago in 1946. It bounced around a number of Houston Area golf courses before finding its home at what is now The Golf Club of Houston in 2003. It has been played the week before the Masters since 2007. Previously sponsored by Shell, the 2018 Houston Open is being played without a presenting sponsor.
The Tournament Course is a Par 72 affair played at roughly 7,500 yards. It was designed by Rees Jones and David Toms and is open to the public if you’re ever in Houston and want to play a round. Get ready for an exciting finish as 3 of the toughest 6 holes on the course are 15, 17, and 18.
The final Master’s spot will be awarded to this week’s winner so you’re going to want to tune-in on Sunday. Notable guys who haven’t qualified for the Masters include Keegan Bradley, JB Holmes, Ian Poulter, Brandt Snedeker, Steve Stricker, and Lee Westwood.
As the odds below show this week’s field isn’t particularly strong, but there is some power up top as Fowler, Rose, Spieth, and Phil are teeing it up. One week till the Masters baby!
